If Again Love Comes My Way

IF AGAIN LOVE COMES MY WAY
I listened not to my instinct,
Though its whispers were distinct.

I thought I had found love
Until the scales fell off my eyes.
He took me places

And bought me necklaces
He seemed harmless like a dove
Until I was thrown like a dice.
He soon became Cain

And with no mercy, I was slain.
I was treated with disdain,
All my love was in vain.
In agony I still lay,

In silence I cry each day.
If again love comes my way,
For all my scars, I'll make it pay.
